Batman and Mr. Freeze: SubZero is a 1998 direct-to-video superhero animated feature film and serves as a sequel to the animated 1993 theatrical film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
Plot[]
Mr. Freeze is upset to find out that his wife Nora is apparently dead and is desperate to find an organ for his wife so she can continue to live. Batman, Robin and Batgirl go out to stop Mr. Freeze and also find an organ for Nora.
Why It's Better Than Batman & Robin[]
- Better written storyline.
- There's only one villain in the film.
- Little to no plot holes.
- Mr. Freeze doesn't use any ice puns or corny one-liners and acts more like a serious villain.
- No hammy acting.
- The serious tone works well, even though it's not a live action DC film.
- The ending is very heartwarming.
- Warner Bros. was smart enough not to release it in theaters following the criticism of Batman & Robin.
Trivia[]
- The film was originally supposed to be released in theaters, but Warner Brothers decided not to release it in theaters following the backlash of Batman & Robin when it was released a year earlier in 1997.
